Equal access to information: Rokada talked to people with hearing impairments about preventing gender-based violence
The Rokada team in Sumy engaged sign language specialist Nina Ostrovska to tell people with hearing impairments about preventing gender-based violence.
“One of the key principles of our Foundation’s work is accessibility and ensuring equal access to important information for all people, regardless of their needs or life circumstances. People with hearing impairments may also face risks of gender-based and sexual violence, yet they often have limited access to information about their rights, protection mechanisms and available support services. That is why it is important to create inclusive spaces and find effective ways of communicating, so that every person can gain the necessary knowledge, feel supported and be included in public life,” stresses Tetiana Matviienko, psychologist at Rokada’s regional office.
The event brought together more than a dozen participants at the city’s inclusive library branch No. 11 “Country of Friends”.
The project is implemented by the Rokada Charitable Foundation with the support of Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (AICS) in partnership with the Bukovinian Agency for Initiatives and Development (BAID) and Un Ponte Per ETS (UPP).
