In frontline Sumy region, officials learned about mechanisms for helping survivors of violence during the war
Rokada gender-based violence specialist Olena Tykhonova told staff of the Konotop District State Administration about the mechanisms and services available to people who have experienced violence during the war.
“The war significantly increases the risks of violence due to stress, loss, forced displacement and the breakdown of usual social ties. That is why local specialists now play a key role: they are the first to see a person in crisis and can refer them in time to the necessary psychological, social and legal support services,” notes Olena Tykhonova. “However, inter-agency cooperation in protecting survivors is also an important response tool. So we need to work on strengthening it.”
The project is implemented by the Rokada Charitable Foundation with the support of Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (AICS) in partnership with the Bukovinian Agency for Initiatives and Development (BAID) and Un Ponte Per ETS (UPP).
