More than two hundred high school students in Kharkiv region joined an information marathon on cybersecurity
Gender-based violence specialist Svitlana Tkachenko brought together senior students of lyceums in the Vysokyi and Bohodukhiv communities for an information marathon.
Online, they discussed digital threats, the need for critical thinking on the internet, cyberbullying, and the risks associated with online casinos and gambling platforms.
“Teenagers are already well aware of some of the challenges – and that is good, because knowledge means protection and prevention. They know about cybersecurity, phishing, scams, doxxing and so on. But we also managed to explain other risks that exist on the internet and often go unnoticed at first glance. They listened with interest to how mechanisms of psychological pressure work online, what signs may indicate dangerous involvement and what steps to take to prevent manipulation,” says Svitlana Tkachenko.
The students also received information on where to turn in case of digital danger.
The information marathon lasted three days and 238 lyceum students took part.
The project is implemented by the Rokada Charitable Foundation with the support of Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (AICS) in partnership with the Bukovinian Agency for Initiatives and Development (BAID) and Un Ponte Per ETS (UPP).
