In Shostka, Rokada psychologist Tetiana Matviienko taught specialists of the NGO SHUM to recognise warning signs and communicate appropriately with survivors of gender-based and domestic violence.
Topics included forms and manifestations of violence, psychological consequences for survivors and factors that may prevent a person from getting out of a critical situation.
“Violence rarely has just one manifestation – more often it is a closed cycle in which periods of tension alternate with periods of reconciliation, and that is exactly what is hard to recognise from the inside. That is why we teach colleagues to notice warning signs and respond to them sensitively,” explains Tetiana Matviienko.
Colleagues from SHUM will be able to apply their new knowledge in their professional work to identify cases of violence in time and provide proper support to the people who have experienced it.
The project is implemented by the Rokada Charitable Foundation with the support of Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (AICS) in partnership with the Bukovinian Agency for Initiatives and Development (BAID) and Un Ponte Per ETS (UPP).
