Rokada specialist Olena Tykhonova helps older people better understand the manifestations of economic violence. At the Sumy Regional Scientific Library, local residents learned how to recognize such manifestations and where to seek protection.
“We broke down typical forms of economic violence: control over pensions and personal funds, coercion into transferring property ownership, and depriving individuals of the ability to manage their own assets independently. We also discussed that when victims keep silent about such cases, it is not a private family matter but rather deepens the problem,” explains Olena Tykhonova, foundation’s gender-based violence specialist.
According to her, if a person or someone they know has experienced economic violence, they should first contact local social services, the police, or the Rokada team, which provides legal counseling and social-psychological support.
