Rokada specialist taught internally displaced Ukrainians to recognise psychological violence

Rokada gender-based violence specialist Olena Tykhonova taught internally displaced Ukrainians to recognise psychological violence and its impact on a person’s well-being and safety.

The awareness-raising event brought together residents of a shelter in the Romny community in Sumy region.

“People who have lost their homes and had to leave their towns and villages because of shelling are especially vulnerable. That is why we hold such awareness-raising events – to teach people to recognise manifestations of psychological violence in everyday life. We explain what devaluation, manipulation and control are… We pay particular attention to personal boundaries, the right to respect and a safe environment, and how to get help in case of violence,” says the specialist.

The project is implemented by the Rokada Charitable Foundation with the support of Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (AICS) in partnership with the Bukovinian Agency for Initiatives and Development (BAID) and Un Ponte Per ETS (UPP).
