Rokada will set up safe spaces in schools in Sumy and Kharkiv regions

By the new school year, Rokada teams will set up safe spaces in the shelters of eight schools in Sumy and Kharkiv regions with the support of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) in partnership with the Bukovinian Agency for Initiatives and Development (BAID) and Un Ponte Per ETS (UPP).

The work will start soon. It will include partial repairs and the provision of furniture and equipment.

Valentyna Ihnatusha,
Coordinator of Rokada’s regional office in Sumy, Project Manager
We really want children in frontline regions to be able to study in person. Such spaces are not only protection from danger but also a place where a child can communicate with peers and teachers and develop fully. The project will cover the schools where the need for protection is most acute.
In total, in Sumy region the project will cover four schools in the Okhtyrka, Synivka, Stepanivka and Sumy communities, attended by more than 2,000 children.
In Kharkiv region, four schools where safe spaces will be set up in shelters are currently being selected.
The project is implemented by the Rokada Charitable Foundation with the support of Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (AICS) in partnership with the Bukovinian Agency for Initiatives and Development (BAID) and Un Ponte Per ETS (UPP).
