This is the story of the Kr***** family from the city of Enerhodar in Zaporizhzhia region. Inna, her two daughters Olesia and Anastasiia and their little dog faced the worst: occupation and utter despair.
By the end of March, the Ukrainian flag no longer flew over the city. Evacuation was impossible, and the family paid several thousand hryvnias to leave on their own with private drivers.
Only 35 km lay ahead to Zaporizhzhia, but 10 checkpoints, threats and inspections stretched the journey into an eternity.
Fortunately, the family managed to reach the town of Khmilnyk in Vinnytsia region, where they lived for some time.
Before the full-scale invasion, the family’s life was connected with culture. Inna founded a creative centre and a dance school, and the children practised various arts professionally.
In the new place, Inna organised creative workshops for children at the Murashnyk hub and volunteered.
Today the family lives in the Dmytrivka community in Kyiv region. They ended up here by chance, after filling in an application online.
Now they run workshops for internally displaced people, supporting one another.
The younger daughter, Olesia, is taking part in the competition. In her drawing, she depicted nature.
“Ukraine is rich in beautiful places. I want to capture that,” says the girl.
The family shares one dream: to return to a Ukrainian Enerhodar.
