Strength through unity: within the EMPOWER project, Rokada scales up aid to Ukrainians affected by the war

Support for Ukrainians, which has been provided in the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions for three years under the EMPOWER project, is now expanding to the Poltava region. Internally displaced families who have settled in this area will be able to receive psychological, social, legal, and humanitarian assistance.

Across all four regions, Rokada teams focus on providing comprehensive emergency support to residents, as well as strengthening the organizational capacity of local NGOs. They organize training, offer mentorship, and help establish cooperation with local authorities—all to reinforce resilience.

“Scaling up the project and its overall implementation is, above all, an opportunity to ensure the continuity of support for war-affected people, as well as to strengthen the capacity of communities to respond to their needs. Expanding the project’s geography to the Poltava region is an important step that will allow us to reach more people in need of psychosocial, social, and legal support. Our goal is to ensure that people can receive the necessary assistance in a timely manner, tailored to their needs.”

Vitaliy Melnyk,
project manager
