Women in Sumy analysed the modern context of gender-based violence in the novella “The Kaidash Family”
Rokada gender-based violence specialist Olena Tykhonova brought Sumy women together for a tabletop role-playing game based on “The Kaidash Family”. Together with the women, she analysed the modern context of Ivan Nechui-Levytskyi’s novella.
Ten players tried on the roles of the characters, exploring their motivations, personalities and behavioural strategies.
“Above all, the participants were able to look at family conflicts through the lens of today’s challenges – in particular, gender stereotypes, inequality, manifestations of domestic and economic violence and gaslighting, which can be hidden behind familiar patterns of family behaviour. Such a game significantly broadens understanding and improves the ability to recognise warning signs in relationships,” explains Olena Tykhonova.
The project is implemented by the Rokada Charitable Foundation with the support of Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (AICS) in partnership with the Bukovinian Agency for Initiatives and Development (BAID) and Un Ponte Per ETS (UPP).
