Employment, capacity building and advocacy support for veterans: Rokada launches a new project
The Rokada Charitable Foundation, in cooperation with the NGO Bevar Ukraine and with the support of CISU – an organisation through which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark funds and supports initiatives in international development and partnership – is launching the project “Reintegration of Veterans through Employment, Capacity Building and Advocacy”.
For 18 months, specialists will work in Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions to support veterans as they return to civilian life and to develop their communities – through work, their own businesses, psychological recovery and systemic change.
Importantly, the Rokada team will not create separate services but will strengthen existing state and civil society mechanisms, making them more accessible and effective.
Planned activities:
Within the initiative, about 400 veterans will receive individual assistance. Rokada staff will provide personalised support – case management, help in accessing state employment and entrepreneurship programmes, and psychosocial counselling. This approach matters because it is not only about services but also about identifying the systemic barriers veterans face every day.
During the project, veteran organisations will also be selected through a separate transparent procedure based on clear criteria: regional representation, work with veterans and their families, readiness for institutional development and participation in advocacy. This will allow Rokada specialists to engage motivated and relevant communities and adapt support to the real needs of organisations in communities.

The project’s main task is to bring about lasting changes in the veteran reintegration system that reflect real experience and needs. So there is a lot of work, partnership and stories of change ahead.
